Hi all.  It's been awhile since we
updated, hopefully you didn't totally give
up on us.  Our biggest news now is that
on Saturday, April 30, we had the
privilege of going back to good ole Ann
Arbor to see marycateandashley
graduate from Nursing School!  It was
sort of a surprise.  We called her only a
week before we saw her and filled her
in.  Yes, it sounds nuts, and at 1 am
Saturday as we pulled into a motel in
Michigan City, Indiana and took their last
room, we, for a second, thought we were
nuts ourselves.

Mary-Catherine receiving her diploma!
But, seeing Mary-Catherine graduate and knowing that Little Al would have been so proud, made it all
worth it.  Ryan and I both said we felt like proud parents ourselves watching her walk across the
stage and get her diploma.  She was last in line, and as she was walking down the stairs of the
stage, she looked up right at us and smiled.  HMMM...Little Al must have been there guiding her!
What made the day even better is that we were invited back to spend a little time with her family and
friends at her home.  After having met her parents, we now understand how MC got to be the
wonderful person that she is.  We couldn't stay long, so unfortunately had to steal her show a little bit
and have her open our gift.  We had taken a picture of MC holding Little Al the week of the second
surgery when we had met her for dinner.  We blew it up and framed it for her "baby wall."
Of course, then, there we all were, Mary Cate,
Ryan, Holly, and Mrs. Steer just crying and crying.
But of course, it was a good cry.  Mary-Catherine
helped us so much while Little Al was here, and
after he was gone.  She is going to be a wonderful
nurse, and the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia
is gaining a huge asset by hiring her!  MC - we love
you, can't thank you enough, and wish you the best
of luck as you start your wonderful career of
helping all those wonderful babies.  They are
going to  be lucky to have you as their nurse!

We also had the wonderful privilege of
meeting Rachel York who's son, Jason was
at U of M at the time.  When Little Al was born,
Jason was recovering from his second
surgery.  He has been in and out of the
hospital with various difficulties, but are now
home more or less.  The sad news came
last week that her father-in-law had died, and
we send Rachel and her family our deepest
sympathy.
Holly, marycateandashley, and Ryan
We started back on Saturday after graduation, stopped at the Trump Casino in Gary, Indiana  to try to
relax and enjoy each other, while at the same time winning some money.  Now we are settling in back
home.

On Sunday,May 22 we leave on the annual fishing trip, where I will be the only and the first woman to go!
Then Ryan and I are meeting our best friends in Minnesota to continue our vacation canoeing.  Since we
haven't had a real vacation in over a year,we are both looking forward to getting out of here, relaxing and
enjoying being close to nature which is making us both feel like we will be closer to our son.  For some
reason, we both just have this feeling that he will be very close by us while we are up North, and
probably catching all the big ones before we even have a chance!

We hope you still check in every once in awhile even though we have not been very faithful in updating
our story.  We are moving forward in our grieving, although I have to admit that sometimes, I'd just rather
not move on at all.  We have reminders everywhere everyday of Bubby, and we wouldn't have it any other
way.  We talk to and about him daily, and think about him constantly, all while trying to move on to a more
normal life.  Our new normal is very hard to get used to, but we will do what we have to for our family and
each other.

Please keep Corbin Grabb in your thoughts for the next couple of weeks.  They arrived back at the U of M
this week where he will undergo another surgery.  Little Al has strict instructions to look after little Corbin
for us!

We love you and thank you all for your continued love and support!!
