| On day one, we decided to sleep in to try to adjust to the time difference, needless to say that didn't work and Ryan was up at 7:00 AM Hawaii time watching the NASCAR race, wow what a weird thing! Slowly everyone awoke and after the race was over at the late hour of 10:00 AM, we decided to go eat breakfast at a golf course that was close to Dave's. After that, Dave took us for a tour of his town, amongst some of the sites was a magnificent view of the ocean where we saw a beach house that was in the middle of no where. We were able to find a road back to the house and got a picture of the great view it had of the ocean. After that we stopped back at Dave's and took a picture of his house and the large monkey pod tree in his front yard, it is a significant landmark in the town. Then we took a quick tour of the funeral home where Dave works that is right next door to his house. Oh yeah, we also got a picture of the rooster that liked to wake us up each morning around 6:00 AM. Then Dave wanted to show us one of the local cemeteries, being in the business it only seemed natural. It was quite amazing at the differences of the cemetery compared to the ones back in the states. Then it was off to Spouting Horn and Dave's special place that he goes to when he wants to talk to Little Al, later on we would visit this special place again. That night was capped off with a Hawaiian luau. Because of the weather it had to be held indoors, but the food and entertainment was outstanding, I have never tasted pork quite like that before. The endless MaiTais weren't bad either!!!! Fun was had by all!!! (Click any photo for a larger view) |
